When you reference a source within an APA style paper; whether it is using a direct quote, repurposing an image, or simply referring to an idea or theory, you should: Insert an in-text citation (the author's surname and the date of publication within parentheses) straight after a direct or indirect quote.

You would treat a manual as if it were a book, because a manual is a type of a book or booklet, depending on the number of pages.

Format:

Author, A.A.. (Year of Publication). Title of work. Publisher.

example: Breit, D.  (2001). Time and Place have Ended. Simon and Schuster.
