The first time you are enrolled in a class at Saint Leo (or any other university), it takes a little time to understand expectations and how the courses are organized, as well as how you are graded.
TIPS:
- Reading the syllabus, assignments, and textbooks carefully and thoroughly can make a big difference in your grades, and in understanding expectations.
- Take a class on a topic you are comfortable with your first time. It is better to not jump into a topic you are completely unfamiliar with. For example, if you have previously had a class on intro to psychology in high school, taking PSY 110 might be a good class to start with, as you have a little background and interest in that area. However, if you have not had a math class in some time, or are not comfortable with math, you might not want to jump into MAT 141 as your first math class. Instead, take the placement test, and start with a class that was recommended based on the placement test.
- Ask questions and get help early to set yourself up for success! An 8 week online class, especially goes very quickly, so don't get behind.
- Review the LibGuide for the class, and ask us for help too - we are here for you! (see link)
- Don't procrastinate
